The Ratz "Found Dead" Dismantled Records, April 2022 ( English )

The Ratz "Found Dead" Dismantled Records, April 2022

5 songs in 5 minutes, not much time to think but what an EP ! Punk sounds, pure rock roll, a "Crampsian" title, acerbic lyrics and we end up as Victor Hugo would say in “Les Miserables":  "With your ass on the ground and your nose in the stream" These tunes are delivered at such a flipping speed !!!.

Super nice people by the way, we had the chance with Badass Mother Fuzzers to play with them in Connecticut at "Café 9", New Haven in 2017, in their stronghold, and with their other band "The Lost Riots" in New York in 2013 with Los Jamones. We were taken by their energy, their convictions and their authenticity. Their singer Jeffrey Thunders is very busy since he’s created the label "Die Hipster records", a webzine "Back against the wall" and also has a solo project, with a little help from his friends, a little more melodic and varied,  "Jeffrey Thunders and the Scabs" But to come back to the Ratz when they play they bring the roof down and take no prisoner !!!

It starts with a little more than 30 seconds of "Modern America", an ode to a united multi-cultural America and finally rid of Donald Duck "Modern America" It's just another day Living in America Fighting for survival Burning down the White House This is a modern America! No more separation Let's rebuild this nation Divided we'll fall Destroy that fucking wall ' This is a modern America!

"Found Dead" sung in Spanish, makes us think a bit of The Pixies on "Surfer Rosa". "Miller and me" sends the Coen brothers back to their crossing and Henry to his writing machine. The 4th track "You can all go to hell", refers to the Philadelphia City Hall demonstrations and sends all the bigots of the American alt-right into the fires of hell and demands more of what humanity really needs: "But all we want is equality, Arm on Arm with the Human Race" The EP ends with the very "Crampsian" "Too Drunk to drive" which reminds us of the Dead Kennedys' "Too Drunk to F..." and of the "Bend over i'll drive" by the Cramps

A 5 mn punk rock storm that doesn't give you too much time, but makes us think about a fairer America and a fairer world, and that deserves a serious detour, several listenings, and the purchase of this 2nd opus by the Ratz available on the label Dismantled records or on their bandcamp
